Introducing Searching Jona
A first look at a suspenseful coming-of-age journey about identity, belonging, and the people we risk everything to find.
Every so often, a manuscript arrives that asks readers to reconsider the world they think they know.
Searching Jona is one of those stories.
Set in 1933, the novel begins in a world that appears familiar. The Great Depression has reshaped economies across the globe. Political movements are gaining strength. Scientific discovery promises both progress and peril. Nations stand at a crossroads, uncertain of what the coming decades will bring.
But this is not quite our history.
Beneath the recognizable surface lies a world altered by different choices, different outcomes, and different possibilities. It is a world where the boundaries between history and imagination are deliberately blurred, inviting readers to consider not only what happened, but what might have happened.
At the center of the story is Dr. Jona Lieb.
A gifted scientist struggling to define himself beyond the shadow of his accomplished father, Jona finds his life unexpectedly transformed by a sudden loss. What begins as a personal tragedy soon unfolds into something far larger—a mystery that stretches across borders, institutions, and generations.
As Jona searches for answers, he is drawn into a landscape of political intrigue, scientific ambition, hidden loyalties, and dangerous secrets. Along the way, he encounters both fictional characters and recognizable figures from history, each playing a role in a story that examines the consequences of knowledge, power, and the choices individuals make when confronted with extraordinary circumstances.
Part historical fiction, part alternate history, and part literary thriller, Searching Jona explores questions that remain as relevant today as they were nearly a century ago.
What responsibilities accompany discovery? Can one individual alter the course of events? How do people navigate a world where certainty is increasingly difficult to find?
And what happens when history itself becomes uncertain?
Over the coming weeks, ScyTale Stories will publish Searching Jona in serialized form, allowing readers to experience the story as it unfolds chapter by chapter.
The first three chapters will be released next Sunday.
Until then, we invite you to step into 1933—a year of uncertainty, possibility, and transformation—and begin a journey into a world that is both familiar and strangely different from our own.
